Currently running KDE 4.8.1 on openSUSE 12.1 with 3.2.9 kernel. One thing i always love about KDE is it’s customization of almost everything. You can customize it from head to toe the way you want it. In the screen shots below, i would also share my desktop settings if any one else might want to try it out.

    Hi,

How can you move the title bar to the left side of the window?

  • http://anl4u.com/blog Admin

    Hi hayalci,

That is quite simple. Install bespin [bespin theme/style] from YaST. Then go to configure desktop -> Workspace Appearance -> Window Decorations. Choose the newly installed bespin window style and click on configure decorations, move to layout tab and check ‘Notebook compatible title orientation’. And job done.

A beautiful desktop! I’m currently using Ubuntu 12.04, but I’m so disappointed. So I consider switchting to OpenSUSE. I love your desktop configuration! Thank you for posting this.

            Thanks, It works :)
btw, your “bespin” hint is super cool!! i love to change theme a lot in Windows but never thought about having a title bar vertical. Also, what makes your Firefox look like that, I am so interested!!

  • http://anl4u.com/blog Admin

    @ Hoang,
Glad to hear it worked for you.
For FF, you can use Group your tabs, and then arrange your tabs. There is an icon at the right top corner. If its not there by default, Right click on the top bar any where and click customize, you can drag n drop it to the bar from that window.

really? wow, I have heard of this function of FF but never tried that. Thanks :D
Btw, I wank to ask about a “switch window” by using alt+tab function of Desktop Effects. There are 3 kinds of them, Box switch, Cover switch and Flip switch. But somehow, I cannot change it, I want to use flip switch but it always show Box switch, which is so annoying for me. Any way to fix this??

      • http://anl4u.com/blog Admin

For the alt-tab switching, it will normally work. Its broken for me too here after upgrading to 4.8.4, will wait for the fix. Also some time it will not work if you are not using openGL[can be found in desktop effects] OR the graphic is broken or old.

  • hoang

It worked before upgrading to 4.8.4 I think. also, I changed Klipper’s shortcut from Global keyboard shortcut but it automatically returned to default. Let see if coming update will fix those issues :)
