The Community repo above is not recognized. Also, when I add the first one, nothing is updated after refreshing. Everything is still listed as 4.3.1 software. Other apps like amarok remain on older versions, too. If I select the “Switch System Package” link, it returns a host of “Break this app?” dialogs. (I only have the on enabled among the repositories.)

Followed your directions exactly, but what am I doing wrong?

I am not sure, why it is not recognized. It is working fine here. Can you just copy it and put it in the browser address bar and try.

How you refresh it? What about other KDE repos? Do you have them enabled? check them.
What this command says:

zypper lr –details

How about this command:

zypper dup

And make sure, you added the above repos and priority is set to 99. And also check that other KDE repos are disabled, other wise you will get a bunch of dependency issues.

NOTE: I have just checked both, working fine and up. Also showing KDE4.4 packages in YaST.

Have you tried this tutorial for KDE4.3.4:

I am determined to make this work! So I’m grateful the help.

DONE. Apparently it doesn’t have a “libmysqlclient.so.16()(64-bit)” library file needed to update Amarok and other files. But if I say yes, that’s the same move that killed my system last time by asking if I wanted to break dependencies on all the other KDE software.

BY CLICKING on the Refresh button in the Yast2 > ‘Configure Software
Repos’ dialog.

THEY have also been refreshed the same way, and in every way that can
be refreshed when enabled and not.

JUST the KDE43 repo, which I labeled “KDE_433_update_a” just to distinguish it.

YES, it’s exactly right, thanks for posting.

APPEARS to be a dependency or library issue.

I know you’re not tech support, but I’m sure there’s something simple
happening here. I reformatted and reinstalled 11.2 this morning just
to make sure I wasn’t working with an altered system. I can live with
4.3.1, but since this seems so simple the way you described, I would
like to be able to occasionally upgrade KDE over the long distro
upgrade period.

This is the “stable” update that worked for me.

That’s a great news, that it worked for you. There are two repos for KDE43 stable, the one which you mention have a few issues with some softwares, and that was the reason i did not mention it in that post(http://anl4u.com/?p=220) for upgrading process. It will update to 4.3.4, this post is about 4.4 b2. And i am sure, there will be no issues upgrading to 4.3.4 from both repos(the one you mentioned, and 2nd in the post for KDE4.3.4).
I went through your screenshots, that was really helpful. I notice that, you disabled the three main repos, which i don’t know WHY?. These repos should always be enabled.
1- OSS
2- Non-OSS
3- Update

Further more, you have two repos which will conflict with each other:
1- Videolan
2- Packman
So remove videolan, and keep packman and also enable it.
Next if you are using any community softwares, so also enable KDE community repo.

Now, if you want to upgrade to KDE4.4 b2, so you have to enable these repos:
1- Two repos from this post mentioned above in the post.
2- OSS
3- Non-OSS
4- Update
5- Packman
And i am sure, there will be no issues.

Let us know about your progress and which KDE version you are using now.
